Chess clubs in Ho Chi Minh City 21

Clubs in Ho Chi Minh City are known by their tournaments. HCMCHESS, founded in 2019 as the chess club of the Student Cultural House at 643 Điện Biên Phủ, numbers its friendly tournaments and its Rating Rocket events. Parents-Love-Chess Club in Gò Vấp has taken its Rated Series past the eightieth edition, Chess Master in Tân Phú holds a monthly quality-check tournament, and Kakapo Chess plays a weekend series with the Phú Nhuận ward chess section.

Smaller clubs meet in cafés, tea shops and apartment blocks: NextMove at Viva Star Coffee on Bàu Cát, Halichess on Hòa Bình, Cờ vua Thần Đồng at Sunview Town. The Diên Hồng ward club plays a Friday-night classical tournament at 9 Thành Thái, and the Hòa Hưng club’s class timetable is printed on the Lichess team page of Bishop Chess, a club that belongs to it. University and school clubs appear here and again under campus chess. Whether a visitor may simply sit down is rarely written anywhere.
